Are you a Ralphus?

We all have periods of idiocy but some of us are idiots all the time.  I classify these people as Ralphuses.  Ralph Wiggum is a resident of Springfield, USA and can be seen on the show The Simpsons.  He tends to do things that would make some people classify him as stupid.  I give him a new category: Ralphus.  He does things that make us all cringe and laugh at him such as eating his own diorama that is made out of sugar cubes.  Ralph is the type of person that receives a valentine and believes that the giver is now his girlfriend.  We all have moments in our lives when this happens but a select few of us act like a Ralphus all the time.

I chose the word Ralphus because it is a combination of “Ralph”, its true inspiration, and the “us” comes from the fact that many people in America sometimes act like Ralph.  It is okay to act Ralphusie (this is the adjective form of the term) but we must be careful that we do not it all the time.  Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Do you ever get excited when you fail and declare that you have won because you got the lowest score possible?
  2. Are you not allowed to go in the deep end of the sandbox?
  3. Do you get nose bleeds if you pick your nose too much?
  4. Do you also get a nose bleed if you do not pick your nose enough?
  5. Do you confuse a school locker with a room to stand in?

If you answered yes to at least 4 of the questions then you may just be a Ralphus.  Do not be too worried because Ralphuses can be successful too.  Ralph Wiggum was once chosen to be the Presidential Candidate for both the Republican and Democratic Party.  This was despite the fact that Ralph is the dumbest kid in the slowest reading group at Springfield Elementary.

The good part about be a Ralphus is that you are so positive about life mostly because you do not know better.  We can all take a lesson from the Ralphuses of the world in this respect.  We should look at life through the eyes of an eight year old boy who really believes anything is possible.  Just remember that running on a hamster wheel does not allow you to escape from the stink bomb placed in your cage.
