Stewie and Man’s Metrosexuality Complex

Everyone knows that Seth Macfarlene loves to push the envelope with his hit shows, Family Guy and American Dad. Two shows that I really like to watch and generally give me a good laugh. The shows address many issues that are present in the country. One of the most prominent issues that I see that he addresses is the fact that many men in today’s society are becoming more and more metro sexual. His favorite way to make fun of the numerous metro sexual men is by using the always lovable Stewie. Everyone has been wondering if Stewie is gay, bi, or straight. I believe that Stewie’s sexual inclinations are more towards hetero/bestial persuasion. (But that is another post for another time.) I know that he is not as criminally insane as he used to be, but he still is for the purpose this post.

Time and time again, Macfarlene shows Stewie to be some sort of cross-dresser in his antics with Brian. However, there are multiple episodes where Stewie manages to show his heterosexual side. Some examples would be him falling in love with his baby-sitter and falling in love with the cookie harlot while in daycare. (I wonder how many people understand the word harlot.) Despite these displays of Stewie being straight, he continually makes references of his homosexual tendencies.

Modern day men get facials, their eyebrows done, and even wax the hair off their bodies.  Granted, some men have very little choice in the matter if their significant others are making them do the things against their will.  Today, without question, looks are very important if someone is trying to get a point across, President Obama has to wear make-up in order to show up on HDTV. However, there are limits to how flamboyant someone can be if he is trying to look good for society. Is acceptance so important that men have to downgrade their masculinity? I am not saying to be a disgusting blob, but taking so much consideration into how one looks is more of a girl’s thing. (sorry can’t think of the right word)

Maybe I could be wrong and Seth Macfarlene is trying to make homosexuality more accepted by today’s society, but who knows? As I like to say, “TO EACH HIS OWN.”
